FAQ

Why did you increase the price of Olivino Essential?

OlivinoLife did not raise the price of Olivino in nearly seven years as we have been committed to providing a high-quality efficacious supplement to our customers. After extensive research and investment in the finest ingredients to maximize our product's benefits, we developed a new formula, Olivino Essential. This new and improved formula required a pricing increase. The great news is that first-time customers can enjoy a 20% discount using the code 'OLIVINO20.' We believe you will see results and so are offering a 6-month Subscribe & Save program which provides an 11% discount at $39.95 a bottle to customers who have purchased previously.

Should I take Olivino with or without food?

To enhance the absorption of healthy olive, grape, and tomato antioxidants and polyphenols in Olivino Essential, we suggest taking it with a meal. These powerful ingredients are best absorbed with fat, so we encourage you to take your Olivino with or after a meal that contains healthy fat such as olive oil.

How do I cancel my subscription?

As stated in our Terms and Conditions that you accepted upon signing up for a subscription, opting into the Subscribe & Save program requires completing the full term of your subscription before being eligible for cancellation. We kindly remind you that you are responsible for the full payment of your subscription terms. (https://olivinolife.com/policies/refund-policy

Our Subscribe and Save program is no longer available for new subscriptions as of 5/1/2024.

Do you offer any free samples?

Because of the nature of the production of Olivino, which is only manufactured in bottles containing 60 softgels, we’re not able to offer samples of Olivino Essential.  However, first-time customers can enjoy a 20% discount using the code 'OLIVINO20.'

Can I return the product if I don’t like it or if it doesn’t work for me?

Olivino Essential is a dietary supplement, which is a consumable product. Therefore, once Olivino has left our secure holding facility or a customer has opened the packaging, it would be difficult to guarantee its safety, efficacy, or integrity for resale.

How big are the new capsules?

An Olivino Essential softgel is smaller than many fish oil capsules.  And the even better news about our new formulation is that the serving size to ensure the best efficacy is now one (1) softgel daily vs. 2 capsules previously.

How could Olivino help lower cholesterol?

Although some natural products can be as effective as drugs in lowering cholesterol, dietary supplements like Olivino are not, by FDA regulation, allowed to state in their labeling that they "lower cholesterol" because that would be a drug claim. That said, several ingredients in Olivino Essential have been clinically documented to lower elevated cholesterol at the level they are included in our product.

Here's a review from one of our customers, Paty S.: "I just had a battery of blood work done and ALL my results have come back well within normal/healthy range. PRE Olivino regime, I had high cholesterol and was being warned about being pre-diabetic! I'm quite certain incorporating Olivino into my diet turned things around for me! THANK YOU for a wonderful product."

How could Olivino help lower A1C levels?

Olivino Essential contains extracts of 3 key fruits of the Mediterranean Diet:  Italian Olives, Grapes, and Tomatoes.  These fruits are loaded with antioxidants-- substances that help neutralize free radicals in the body which lead to oxidative stress. Oxidative stress occurs when there is an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in the body. In diabetes, prolonged elevated blood sugar levels can contribute to oxidative stress, which may damage cells and exacerbate insulin resistance. Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and its potential negative impact on insulin sensitivity.

How could Olivino help lower blood glucose levels?

Olivino Essential contains extracts of 3 key fruits of the Mediterranean Diet:  Italian Olives, Grapes, and Tomatoes which are loaded with antioxidants. Studies suggest that antioxidants may improve insulin sensitivity. Improved insulin sensitivity allows cells to respond more effectively to insulin, the hormone responsible for regulating blood sugar levels. Antioxidants may also help protect the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas from oxidative damage. Preserving the function of these cells is crucial for maintaining insulin secretion and overall glycemic control. The bioactive ingredients in Olivino also have anti-inflammatory effects.  Chronic inflammation is associated with insulin resistance and impaired glucose metabolism. By reducing inflammation, antioxidants may indirectly contribute to better glycemic control. Finally, the antioxidants in Olivino may support healthy blood vessels, which in turn, could improve blood flow, potentially positively impacting blood sugar regulation.

Why not just eat Olives rather than take Olivino?

You certainly could, however, we use a particular variety of olive (Coratina) from southern Italy which is very high in antioxidants. Also, keep in mind that cured olives are EXTREMELY high in sodium — 1 large olive has about 50 mg, therefor, 30 olives (the equivalent found in 1 Olivino Essential softgel) would provide 1500 mg of sodium. The entire daily value DV recommended for sodium by public health authorities is only 2,300. mg. Olivino also offers more than just olives — you're also getting the health benefits of the polyphenols and antioxidants found in 300 grapes, and 3 large tomatoes, all in one capsule!

I have arthritis and wonder if, and how, Olivino can help with pain and inflammation?

How Olivino may help with arthritis was discussed in a recent blog by Kelley Fitzpatrick

Is Olivino safe to take when you are taking medications?

We can’t speak to specifics without knowing more details about your situation, so we recommend chatting with your doctor. It’s always best to check with a medical professional before starting any new supplement, especially if you have any underlying health conditions.

Is Olivino Essential vegan?

No. However, Olivino Essential is mostly plant-based. Due to the nature of the novel ingredients in the new formula, we are now using a softgel that contains Gelatin. This ensures the integrity of the plant-based ingredients.

Why did you change the formula?

We modified our formula for several reasons. First, we removed the fiber. A review of clinical studies led us to realize that fiber should be derived from food sources.  Removing fiber also reduced the serving size to 1 capsule per day, which appeals to many of our customers.  Secondly, we changed the tomato extract from synthetic lycopene to a more clinically effective and complete tomato source: Lyc-O-Mato®.  This proprietary tomato extract contains not only lycopene, but all the healthy bioactives naturally abundant in the tomato, a staple of the Mediterranean Diet.  These healthy bioactives include phytoene, phytofluene, vitamin E and phytosterols. Finally, we increased the amount of resveratrol from 30 mg to 75 mg/serving based on new research.

How can the Mediterranean diet benefit individuals with type 1 diabetes?

  1. Improved Blood Sugar Control: The Mediterranean diet emphasizes whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins, which can help stabilize blood sugar levels. These foods have a lower glycemic index, meaning they cause a slower rise in blood sugar after meals, which can be beneficial for individuals with diabetes in managing their blood sugar levels.
  2. Reduced Inflammation: The Mediterranean diet is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to the abundance of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and olive oil. Managing inflammation is crucial for individuals with diabetes, as chronic inflammation can worsen insulin resistance and contribute to complications.
  3. Improved Insulin Sensitivity: Studies have suggested that the Mediterranean diet may improve insulin sensitivity, which means the body can use insulin more effectively to regulate blood sugar levels. This can lead to better blood sugar control and reduced reliance on insulin injections or medications.

How might Olivino benefit individuals with Type 1 diabetes?

It's important to consult with a healthcare provider before using any supplement for diabetes management.  However, Olivino Essential contains extracts of three key fruits found in abundance in the Mediterranean Diet:  Olives, Grapes, and Tomatoes—each of these may offer benefits for individuals with type 1 diabetes:

Tomato extract is rich in antioxidants, including lycopene. Antioxidants help combat oxidative stress and inflammation, two key factors in the development and progression of type 1 diabetes. Some studies also suggest that lycopene may improve insulin sensitivity and help regulate blood sugar levels.

Olive polyphenols also possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation associated with diabetes. Additionally, olive polyphenols may improve insulin sensitivity, meaning the body can use insulin more effectively to regulate blood sugar levels. Some studies suggest that they may also help protect pancreatic beta cells (which produce insulin) from damage.

Grape seed extract contains compounds called proanthocyanidins, which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. These properties may help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation associated with type 1 diabetes. Additionally, some studies suggest that grape seed extract may improve insulin sensitivity, potentially leading to better blood sugar control.

Resveratrol, a compound found in the skins of red grapes, possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which may help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation associated with diabetes. Additionally, resveratrol has been studied for its potential to improve insulin sensitivity and regulate blood sugar levels. Some research suggests that it may also protect pancreatic beta cells, which produce insulin, from damage.

Why is Olive Fruit is Superior to Olive Leaf?

There are many olive extracts on the market.  Most of them are derived from the LEAF of the olive.  Very few are derived from the FRUIT of the Olive.  Olivino Essential uses olive FRUIT.  Although both offer health benefits, they differ in their composition and potential effects. Here's why olive fruit extract is considered superior:

  1. Higher concentration of polyphenols: Olive fruit extract tends to have a higher concentration of polyphenols, which are compounds known for their antioxidant properties. These polyphenols, such as hydroxytyrosol and tyrosol, are believed to offer various health benefits, including reducing inflammation and protecting against certain diseases.
  2. Broader range of bioactive compounds: Olive fruit extract contains a broader range of bioactive compounds compared to olive leaf extract. These compounds may work synergistically to provide enhanced health benefits.
  3. Better bioavailability: Some studies suggest that the bioavailability of certain beneficial compounds, such as hydroxytyrosol, may be higher in olive fruit extract compared to olive leaf extract. This means that the body can absorb and utilize these compounds more effectively.
  4. Potential for multiple health benefits: Due to its higher concentration of polyphenols and other bioactive compounds, olive fruit extract may offer a wider array of health benefits, including cardiovascular support, anti-inflammatory effects, and protection against oxidative stress.

In summary, while olive fruit extract and olive leaf extract have both been studied for their health effects and have merit, olive fruit extract is considered superior due to its higher concentration of beneficial compounds and potential for broader health benefits.

The Olive fruit extract in Olivino Essential is sourced from Coratina Olives, a highly prized varietal grown in Southern Italy.  Our olive fruit extract contains all the major polyphenolics of the olive fruit, in particular, verbascoside as a major constituent.  Verbascoside is considered as the most potent antioxidant in olives.
